l008com, to answer your question in a nutshell "new work will be available" when an experiment has work to process. In regards to when this will be I have no idea, we will know when it appears in our work queues :-)

I dedicate 50% threads to BOINC (WCG/SiDock/Rosetta/TN-Grid) and 50% to Stockfish Fishtest chess.

To achieve using 50% CPU time boinc do you use preferences "50% of the CPUs"? I also send you a PM

I don't know about Intel vs AMD but it does prefer Linux. 10-15% faster IIRC.

Yes I completely agree a lot of application related to boinc like Linux. Contrary to this I have a feeling that the current project "Vitis vinifera" appears to run under 3 hours on Windows times given were before they increase work unit size. Previous project ran for over 3 hours most of the time

Thank you for all the information very interesting

That means: if you want your (single-threaded) science application to run as fast as it could, don't use more than 50% of your CPUs for this purpose.
The 12th and 13th gen Intel CPUs have E-Cores, which don't have the necessary resources to run TN-Grid (and similar scientific) applications, so the percentage of the usable "CPUs" (threads in reality) on these CPUs are even lower (34% on i9-12xxx, 25% on i9-13xxx).
Look at these two i9-13900k's:
https://gene.disi.unitn.it/test/results.php?hostid=86237&offset=0&show_names=0&state=4&appid= Run time: 1h 37m CPU time: 1h 8m, 1 error
https://gene.disi.unitn.it/test/results.php?hostid=86238&offset=0&show_names=0&state=4&appid= Run time: 1h 34m CPU time: 1h 6m, many errors

Yes I agree the bottom host as many "errors" although they are classed as this I wouldn't call them "errors" because the 1st 20 at least are "abandoned" which to me just means "aborted by user" because the 2 tasks have been returned in one example I checked

I'm glad that I have a better than ideal computer, as my i9-12900F can do one workunit in 35 minutes :)

Nice time for a work unit. I have a Ryzen 3900 X and it takes over an hour to do a work unit. Perhaps this project prefers Intel. Using only your performance cores assuming you can get in case you can return 13.76 results in hour. Maths to get that is: 8×1.72

I think it's a good time to start now, and keep doing so until we have at least 10k work units available for download. This will allow to finish the V. Vinefera project in only a few months.

It may allow us to finish the project in a few months. I believe there is not the storage to be able to make and store that many work units & results without putting too much pressure on the system TN grid is using the time the project.

Any results that need to be sent out again will be sent out when the deadline is reached/past for the current results that are out in the field.

Once these "mouse" related tasks start, do we have any idea of the project time?

Thanks for confirming what was happening with the word generator. I have to agree everything seems to be running a lot nicer currently on the old server :-)
Out of curiosity when the move to new server happens what will happen with work that is currently being processed?

Meanwhile the work generator will be active just a few hours a day, so very few workunits will be available.
Thank you all for your understanding and patience.

By the looks of things the server is coping well with the amount of work ready to send (17,636), a lot of work can be produced considering the "work generator" is only "running a few hours a day" Currently 56,087 result are being processed :-) Your welcome, happy to wait until project has moved to new hardware before a process more work.

I managed to pick up 2 tasks and then ran for 31 and 32 minutes respectively on a Ryzen 9 5900 X running Windows 11 pro 2200 version. These were _2 &_3 tasks looks like I was used as a checker both my tasks validated

Have you seen https://gene.disi.unitn.it/test/forum_thread.php?id=207 I asked a similar question and got the following answer on April 8, 2022 at 14:44:38 UTC from valterc Message 2624

The main goal right now is to finish the FANTOM-1 experiment. Alongside there will be another dataset of Vitis vinifera. We are planning to do new experiments, either with other datasets or organisms. We are also evaluating the feasibility to do something with Single-cell transcriptomics data.

Very interesting message!!
But it's april 2022, so we don't know if plas are changed.
Meantime, we crunch!

Yes you are correct we don't know if plans have changed.

I took the message to read as if we would be running mentioned work after the current work has been completed.

This would mean mentioned experiments above would start around in the beginning of April 2023

Fantastic to hear that your students are working with the result. Hopefully we can be of assistance to you in the future by providing students with more results. Unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to get 1 of thee your student result

Ellisa thanks for letting us know. I look forward to trying to get a task. Do you have any idea how long your research will run for?

Thanks for the information. I couldn't agree with you more Tim about helping their project out in the short term. In saying this I am currently not running any tasks

Can you run SSE2 on a Windows AMD PC and does anybody know if it brings the runtime down from around 3 hours? On a AMD 5900 X CPU
