We were almost ready to start but we ran into (serious) problems. See this http://gene.disi.unitn.it/test/forum_thread.php?id=210

265 WU is nothing....most likely to be resends.

As plenty of machines are eager to get Wus, we need an increased inflow untill a blance of inflow and done tasks is achieved.

Hopefully, crunchers wont go to crunch someother project is situation takes long to resolve...

Message 1965 - Posted: 29 Sep 2020, 13:37:29 UTC - in response to Message 1964.

The tasks I received were not resends.
There seems to work created constantly but demand takes it almost instantly.

I haven't had any trouble maintaining my 10 task cache buffer on my host.
When I ask for replacement work for turning one in, I get another immediately.

You have been lucky. Its been days since I got my last WU.

Is because of this:

My queue is also drying up slowly, even though my turnover is slow and my buffer tends to be very small as well...

Edit: I just received 7 WUs (HOXC4). That's great :)

Work is indeed being created but it's taken very quickly.
Number of tasks in progress rose from 29,000ish last night to 33,500 right now.
Number of available tasks dropped from 480 to 314 in about 5 minutes or so.

Hopefully work creation can be increased but it may not be possible due to server capacity.

I just restarted the work generator (there is a mysterious memory leak inside its python code that will slow down the program after some days) and also restarted some services. This should help the systems to increase its speed.

Thank you valterc! The work generator seems to be doing its job properly now again. The queue is continually rising almost back up to 4k tasks waiting to be sent out. That's great :)

All server processes are running, yet no tasks available to send.

Out of work.

I have been getting enough work to keep going, even if the server status does not show it.

The reply from admin said simply that the server was at its limit.

The work generator is working as hard as it can but the demand is greater than it can supply.

No chance for it to build a ready to send buffer. All work is immediately grabbed by host requests.

The project gained a lot of new users while Universe was down I suspect as a backup project.

In other words: we are "wasting" computing power...most probably going somewhere else.

I don't understand your "wasting" comment. Work is available, you just might take a few connection tries to snag more work.

I haven't had any issues on 3 hosts maintaining my work caches.

You can add your compute resources to another cpu work project and set its resource share to 0.

That way if you get no work from TN-Grid your host will ask for a single WU from your backup project. Then while that WU is running, your host might get lucky and snag another TN-Grid WU to crunch once you finish your backup WU.

Wasting in the meaning of computing power going somehwere else (or nowhere) instead of being crunching TN-Grid because there are no Wus.

Som users may leave proyect if there is no stable WUs inflow.
