This will be the place where to discuss about application issues in gene@home while integrating it into the BOINC framework. First I would like to list the things that should be done (or at least thought) before making the project public.

  • Checkpoints
  • Progress Bar
  • Credits: It would be useful, given the non-deterministic approach of the algorithm, to identify the numbers of a 'chunk of computation' and give credits according to this number. (I will start a new thread on this topic)

Good morning,
when the execution of boinc in the client is ended, does boinc delete checkpoint files?

Thank you

If I remember correctly the input and output files are described using job templates (see http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wikiJobTemplates). Any other file (like temporary files, checkpoints, etc.) should simply automatically deleted when the job is done.

One thing that I can suggest is the following. Use your boinc client to attach to any well-known boinc project, crunch a few workunits and look at what is inside the boinc data directory (projects, slots, etc.). The most interesting file is client_state.xml
