I tried to attatch my account to our regular team, but trying to do so didn't work, it said it couldn't find my team, or, in fact, any teams.

I just created a fake account for testing this. I was able to join a team without any problem, (just click on test_account profile) i.e. I was not able to replicate your error.... (valterc)

I just tried to join our team, click on the "find a team" link, enter Denmark in the Country field, and it shows "No teams were found matching your criteria. Try another search." BOINC@Denmark is the largest Danish team and appears at all other projects. The search cannot find ANY teams in Denmark, (there are several).

Yep, there is no Danish team here. In order to join you have first to ask a team leader to create the team in this project...

At other "new" projects, teams are imported at project set up time. I am the founder of many of our team instances, yet have not created teams at dozens of projects.

Yes this is probably the common behavior, anyway, I investigated a little bit and found this message inside the logs on the server: Account creation is protected by invitation codes, so not importing teams This choice (by default) is probably reasonable...

Well, as admin, you now know the consequence of having the invitation code. You can't expect team admins to push your project.

Well, as admin, you now know the consequence of having the invitation code. You can't expect team admins to push your project. I know about this. Having the invitation code will limit the number of people coming here. But also I don't have spammers. There was a discussion about this in the boinc.projects mailing list, some time ago. The Collatz project was heavily attacked and now it is also using invitation codes. I hope there will be another reliable way to keep spammers, fake hosts and users, etc. away from the project but for now I will keep the invitation code.

Fine, your project, your choice. You also understand there are costs. I've set no new tasks and will detatch when those here are cleared. Best wishes.

Just setup the team and be done with it. The entire project suffers due to the spammers and can shut down databses or make them come to a crawl. This is the better option right now.

Yes I can't really see what the problem is. I also am the founder of a team and very often I join a project before they get round to doing the BOINC team import thing, if they do at all.
