But it is frequently the case on some projects that "similar" outputs don't match well enough for validation. I suppose it depends on the science, and how the validator is calibrated. |

These antibodies — known as autoantibodies, because they attack the body itself — weren't found at all in 663 people with mild or asymptomatic Covid-19 infections. Only four of 1,227 healthy patients had the autoantibodies. Posted 10 Apr 2020 by Jim1348 Regardless of how it turns out, you have my thanks and, I'm sure, everyone else's. Yes, certainly. Most projects I have seen get maybe a 15X - 20X speedup with a GPU. But TN-Grid had better start planning for more work. This will keep them busy. |

I was just thinking that this is like Sputnik, where everybody rushed into science and engineering (my masters degree was paid for by the government). You will have more resources than you know what to do with before long. |

I know, they do not want to exceed their server capacity and run dry, but that is a problem for the crunchers. They will merely complain about it. But it would help the science, would it not? |

Posted 21 Jan 2020 by Jim1348 3 failed (and errored) tasks so far on a Ryzen 7 1800x, running Windows 10. It could be the segfault error. I see them on my Ryzen 1700 occasionally, but not on my Ryzen 2700. (And my Ryzen 1700 is one of the "fixed" versions, produced after they introduced the fix.) |

Posted 12 Nov 2019 by Jim1348 Running a single WU took 8,151 seconds to be completed. If that single work unit was the only thing you were running, then it was running effectively on its own core. The 16 WUs were running on virtual cores (two per real core). So that is the difference you expect between a full core and a virtual core. |

Posted 30 Oct 2019 by Jim1348 Now, I have a new CPU that would be faster with the avx version but my machine will not get that version, because the old CPU was slower on avx. If you are referring to your Ryzen 3600, it will probably be faster with the fma version. That is what both my Ryzen 2600s end up with, though they are on Ubuntu. PS - The difference is very small anyway, almost not worth the selection process. |
