Do you guys have the system down on purpose? If so do you have an et when it will be back?

Is there any particular reason why there are no wus?

I know there was an explanation that they may be longer and I can understand that.

We are dedicated so it shouldn't be a problem. Why not more credit if they are longer?

Very briefly, I have to limit the number of wu because of storage problems. We are waiting for a new application with a way smaller output file, this will hopefully solve the problem...

Do you have an approximate time frame for the new app? To many of my machines are idle :)

BTW I think running out of work is worse than having to big of an output file.

We are almost done with the Ec (Escherichia coli mono) experiment. As many of you have probably noticed we were switching to another organism (Vv, Vitis Vinifera). Complex organisms have a larger genome (our Ec dataset contains ~4000 genes, the Vv one ~28000). The application basically finds one-to-one interactions between all the genes of the dataset, so the output file is bigger on more complex organisms.

This is obviously a problem. A ~30 minutes run will produce a ~6 Mb output file (gzipped). Many people around the world simply don't have enough internet bandwidth to handle this. This is also a problem for us (more hard disk storage used).

The only way to solve this is to rethink the way the output file is built, maybe with some kind of filtering. But this means rewriting the application output code, i.e. it will take time to do this.

In the meanwhile we stopped the Vv experiment and are switching back to the dream5 experiment (see the science section of the forum) which is also based on Ec (smaller output file)

Thanks all for your understanding.

[edit] You may notice some workunits shortage in the meanwhile

What about something similar to what rosetta@home does? Where the end user can pick how long the WU's run and that would make the file size bigger/smaller depending on one's choices.

Funny how when I follow the directions it works correctly ;)

Thanks for your help

app_info was deleted. I did not stop the boinc service though, I just hit reset after deleting app_info. I will try again on a different machine and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for the work everyone did on this app, I really appreciate it.

when I am resetting the project it is not downloading the app to run the WU's. It is just downloading WU's and the erroring out with computational error.

I have been able to get it to download the apps with a detach/reattach. Initially it was running avx @ ~1hr45min a wu but now it is running ver9 at 4 hours a wu. Is there a reason it back leveled to the old app?

Are the badges the coins to the left?
