Message boards : Number crunching : Linux versus Windows run times

Hi everyone. I am using a Ryzen 9 3900X, 32 GB with 12c/24t and just for the fun of it I recently installed a second partition running Ubuntu. The run times between the two OS vary considerably. While under Windows the wu's take around 3:17 hours to complete, they finish in around 2:47 under Linux. Did anyone else notice this behaviour? This seems to be true also for other projects like Universe and MLC.

Absolutely possible, and the difference between Linux and Windows would be even more extreme on multi core processors, such as 64-core AMD Threadripper 3990X, where Linux is over twice as fast as Windows on multiple benchmarks.

Correct, TN-Grid runs faster under Linux.
