FurinVery interesting read. Amazing that someone recognized this and published it back in February 2020. Seems to be a mistake as [13] says SARS-CoV doesn't have the furin cleavage site: Furin is regulated by cholesterol and substrate presentation. When cholesterol is high, furin traffics to GM1 lipid rafts. When cholesterol is low, furin traffics to the disordered region[16]. This is speculated to contribute to cholesterol and age dependent priming of SARS-CoV.Also the age-dependent argument seems upside down. As we age cholesterol levels rise. More cholesterol implies more GM1 lipid rafts to sequester furin and so less cleaving of SARS-CoV-2 spike proteins. Can TN-Grid expand the genes involved in furin and its regultion???

I just checked, we have 7 isoforms of the FURIN gene inside our FANTOM db, I just put them on our queue at high priority, you should see them soon floating around.

Hey valterc, I just saw this Reuters article (published 12/11) talking about 5 genes that are currently thought of as potential/partial cause for very severe courses of SARS-CoV-2. The article names the following genes: IFNAR2, TYK2, OAS1, DPP9 and CCR2.
