I decided to stop the work generator until we solve our storage problems and have the new application (small output files). Most of our systems are now busy just moving things from here to there, this also implies a lot of (boring) micromanagement.
Hope you all understand.

Hopefully just a few days. If everything goes well we hope to deploy the new application before the end of the next week.

a Gridcoin poll has been created:

Should we remove TNGrid from the whitelist due to no available work units? (vote until March 17)

I think that automatic temporary greylisting would really help in this kind of situation. The poll takes two weeks and by the end of the pool project may be back in action.

In order to show commitment to a project we should allow the administrators time to sort out the problems and reset.

We have had this discussion before re projects where there is a temporary shortage of wus and solutions have been put forward but not instigated.

I agree. We need to allow for technical challenges. It is normal to have some interruption. I just expect that those challenges will be worked on with the highest priority.

valterc any updates ? ETA ?

We have the new application, with the following features:
- very small output file, in the last Vv experiments it was ~5.7M, now ~67K.
- bzip2 compressed input file (uncompressed by the client), smaller than before
- some bugs fixed (related with the validation process)
We tested it 'standalone' and it works well.

Now we are focusing on the work generator.
The next Friday we will meet and try to finalize everything. The idea is to generate some work for the new app (only for the Linux x64 sse2 version) and see on Monday if everything is okay.

How about Windows wus?

Will you have those in the near future?

Can you give us an ETA on those too?

There will be (optimized) applications for all the platforms (as before, x32/x62 Linux, Windows, ARM, Mac OS). We will start deploying them after this weekend (if everything goes well). We'll keep you updated.

At the moment the vote at Gridcoin is not going your way and it is very likely that TN-Grid will be removed from the Whitelist.

I suggest that you contact Gridcoin and put your case forward or you will lose considerable computing power just as you create new and improved wus.
