Today, in about 1 hour from now we will shutdown the server for an upgrade (ram, cpu and storage). It shouldn't take a long time, maybe one hour or less. [edit] Everything went well.

Ok, everything went well and we are up and running.

Talking about specs, I do not know exactly, mainly because the server is actually a virtual machine hosted by some blade inside the University data-center.

We doubled the cpus, from 2 AMD Opteron Processor 6176 to 4 AMD Opteron Processor 6276, the RAM went from 2 to 4 G and we added a new 50G hd to the previous one (also 50G).

So the machine is not a *big* one but it performed well since now and should be way better with this upgrade.

Is this still the server???
I don't know anything about servers but couldn't you use you build your own computer to be your server???
I have spare parts sitting here more powerful than that. I could build one and mail it to you. E.g.,
- Dell Precision T7910 Motherboard Dual LGA2011-3 215PR NK5PH System Board
- 128GB (8x16GB) PC4-17000P-R DDR4 ECC Reg Memory RAM for Supermicro SYS-2029GP-TR
- Two E5-4660 v3 (14c/28t)
- (Oops, strike this, no M.2 socket. 2 TB NVMe SSD)
- 3 TB HDD spinner, or more
- Corsair AX860 PSU
- GPU card if needed, not sure what model is appropriate
Problem is I don't have a case (don't use them) or CPU coolers for this MB. I know a guy across town that can probably scrounge up CPU coolers if I take him the MB.

So what's the latest on a better TN-Grid server???

Over 27,000 WUs queued and ready for BOINCers to DL. Looks like you upgraded the server and you're more than ready for the next Race Day.

Well, the WU ready to send are just around 16000...The server is still the old little one. We found some money and ordered a new server, no ETA right now. When ready to do the upgrade we will for sure post a news here.
